Jen has had ongoing symptoms of depression and anxiety, chronic headaches, bruxism, feelings of lack of control and focus, and some suicidal ideation. Sometimes falls asleep while driving and disrupted sleeping patterns.
Richard had been a 20+ a day smoker for 35 years. He lives a busy life with work and his family and his reasons for wanting to stop smoking, were for all the obvious reasons like health, money etc, but he had recently experienced some serious health issues which spurred on the need to stop.
Rosie was pregnant with her second baby. The first time around, the birth had not gone to plan, and baby was born at home shortly after returning from the hospital with a diagnosis of ‘early labour’.
Katie lives with her mum and grandma and her passion is football, of which she is very good at. She is in year 6 primary school. She stopped going to school and found it hard to seperate imagination with reality. With weekly sessions over the first 10 – 12 weeks face-to-face. Then 2 weekly sessions for 2 more months. The results speak for themselves.
James wanted his independence back. He is an erudite young man who thinks and feels deeply. Having had a fall (where he injured his foot), coupled with the covid pandemic, and all that entailed, his confidence had taken a hit. James’s independence is something he holds close and protects with great vigour. He has to defend this on a day-to-day basis which, unless you too have a disability, possibly has not ever crossed your mind.
Alex is 15 years old, they initially presented as fidgety and overwhelmed with school and relationships. We spent the first session hashing out what was needed and goals for how the therapy would help. These goals were to stop the anxiety; to be able to attend school; to embrace and understand relationships at school, and more importantly, to stop the suicidal ideations.
